The web is celebrated as the revolutionary technology that created equal opportunity, access, and potential. Only a quarter of people can use it though, this lead to controversy. The web is supposed to be available for everyone, to make everyone have equal power, share their stories and such. Not everyone can truly do that since some of them don’t have access to the internet. The ideas that are put on the internet can also be interpreted in different ways, such as portraying the state of a country like Africa wrong. The web is also used to help with businesses and companies who don’t have access can’t use it to help them.

Wikipedia is an example as implement to the idea of Libertarianism, because it can cause ordinary people to gain the ability to have authority over a subject, to explain an event not many people know about, and twist the facts around so it will follow what they believe rather than what is actually the truth. Libertarianism is a belief of freewill, while interacting with different governments and organizations. It explains the digital convergence because the this way people can talk about things like the government and other subjects and have the same opinion and not hurt anyone or just talk about their beliefs without meeting their opponent in person.

The web makes it possible for digital convergence because all sorts of stories in the news can be transferred throughout the media, like the internet, TV. People can also connect with each other over the web and uses it to discuss their ideas, beliefs, and other matters with each other; this opens a user’s mind to new things.

The internet can become a challenge for traditional authority because it is easier to hide your identity is and what you are going through. If someone uses the internet to show the state of a country and what is happening, authority figures might have to do something to address the situation or ignore it and face massive controversy from the masses.

The authority and Web communication are horizontal because no one has more power on the internet then the other. Everyone can share their own ideas and talk about what they like to talk about. This creates the idea for digital media convergence because it can allow people to see their ideas on  all types of media and make everyone feel equal.
